How to Use Online Tools: School District Resources
Online resources such as databases and encyclopedias are collections of information that are available online through Internet browsers by purchasing access to them. There can be encyclopedias or subject databases on all kinds of subjects.
Many online resources require a password for users to log on because the company that provides them has user fees to support their business.
For example, OSLIS provides access for all students in Oregon to use the EBSCO periodical databases. They are used by accessing
Searchasuarus,
KidSearch
or Student Research Center from the box to the right of this screen.
These databases include encyclopedias, newspapers, images, thousands of magazine articles, and other subject-area information sources. They can be accessed at all Oregon schools without a username. However, if you want to use them from outside of school, you will need a password to log in. Passwords are available from your library media specialist or teacher.
